Mashrafe was re-elected in the January 7 polls from Narail-2 while his former teammate Shakib became a first-time MP from Magura-1 constituency—both represented the Awami League. Another Tiger cricketer Tamim Iqbal hinted at following their lead in the future.
Tamim is gearing up for the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) which begins Friday (January 19). His team Fortune Barisal is practicing at Pubergaon Sports School (PKSP) ahead of the tournament. Tamim spoke to the media there on Thursday Tamim was asked whether he would join politics like Mashrafe-Shakib. The Bangladesh opener was elusive: “This is a very risky thing.
